I grew up watching Golden Girls. Little did I know then how revolutionary and ground breaking that show actually was.

Very taboo subjects frequented the plot lines for many of the shows. Serious in nature but with the appropriate comedic timing and witty punch lines, Dorothy, Rose, Sophia and Blanche were able to discuss things from sex, interracial couples, suicide, teen pregnancy, gay marriage, lesbian friends and even nuns “collecting lingerie for needy sexy people“.
